Prompt: What’s your dystopia?
excerpt from Susan’s writing (possibly part of a talk I’m giving in a couple of weeks): I had a special relationship with my father’s parents, and they continue to hold a dear place in my heart. They each passed away around Thanksgiving, about four or five years apart, and because of them, my Thanksgiving can’t ever be about just pumpkin pie and football, or the prequel to Christmas, or the warm-up run before Black Friday’s marathon. My Thanksgiving is more like a Memorial Day– not just because they died, but because of what I learned from their passing. When I think about how gratitude and salvation are intertwined, I think of those hospital Thanksgivings, and I’d like to share them with you today, if I may.
