Easter, Rejoicing

This is one of my favorite poems of all time. I’ve posted it here before, but it bears repeating. Happy Easter, friends.

i thank You God  for most this amazing
day: for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue dream of sky;and for everything
which is natural which is infinite which is yes

(i who have died am alive again today,
and this is the sun’s birthday;this is the birth
day of life and love and wings;and of the gay
great happening ilimitably earth)

how should tasting touching hearing seeing
breathing any – lifted from the no
of all nothing – human merely being
doubt unimaginable You?

(now the ears of my ears awake and
now the eyes of my eyes are opened)

PS Did you know tomorrow is the start of National Poetry Month? Woo hoo! Check back for more details.

  1. I like THIS kind of poetry. I actually like the poem you shared today too, but I don’t really want to steal a chance of winning a poetry book from someone who really, really wants it. 🙂
