So Much Happy

For today’s post, I wanted to share something beautiful about spring, and lo and behold, vlogbrothers did it wonderfully for me.  This doesn’t surprise me, since they do everything that is right and lovely and good and funny, and they do it really, really well. So here is a short video about spring and poetry. The text of the poem John Green reads at the end of his video is included below, in case you’re a read-along type of person. Most poetry is best heard rather than read, so when I come across a great performance, I like to share.

Happy Spring. DFTBA. Oh wait. That’s not a thing I say…

O sweet spontaneous

O sweet spontaneous
earth how often have

fingers of
prurient philosophers pinched

, has the naughty thumb
of science prodded

beauty, how
often have religions taken
thee upon their scraggy knees
squeezing and

buffeting thee that thou mightest conceive

to the incomparable
couch of death thy

thou answerest

them only with

PS You know John Green, vlog brother, is also John Green, writer extraordinaire? Author of this heartbreaking piece of staggering genius (among others)? The one that SHAMES Romeo and Juliet with its beauty and true romance? Apparently going to be a movie someday? Read the book. Watch the YouTube. You’re welcome.

PPS Don’t forget to comment! You could win a poetry book! … That was more enticing in my head…
